The entry to the park is via a short boat ride giving you the first glimpse of the mangrove forest.

Stay options

Bhitarkanika National Park has offbeat eco-resorts that offer simple stay in heart of the reserve forest. Forest Rest House (FRH) is the best stay here.

FRH stay requires 1 km walk from the jetty point.

Inside FRH

FRH is a haven for bird watchers. We sighted 6 varieties of Woodpeckers inside the resort- this one is a Black Rumped Flameback.

Meals in FRH

Delicious meals are served in the forest canteen.

Boat Safari

In the evening we undertook a boat safari where we sighted many Kingfishers and even, Crocodiles. This one is a Black Capped Kingfisher.
